Syracuse Actors Studio (SAS) is a creative community built for actors, aspiring actors, filmmakers, writers, directors, and anyone who wants to explore the art of performance.

Our belief is simple: acting is learned by acting.

SAS provides a welcoming, supportive environment where people of all experience levels can develop their skills, challenge themselves, build confidence, and connect with others who share a passion for the performing arts. Whether you've been acting for years, are preparing for your first audition, or have simply wondered what it feels like to step into a character, there is a place for you at Syracuse Actors Studio.

Our sessions go beyond traditional acting classes. We explore different techniques and styles through scene study, improvisation, character development, monologues, television and film acting, theater performance, audition techniques, and established acting methods such as Strasberg and others. Each session is designed to give participants an opportunity to get up, perform, experiment, make mistakes, learn, and grow.

But SAS is about more than acting.

Syracuse Actors Studio was created to help strengthen and connect the Central New York acting and filmmaking community. We bring together people who might otherwise never have the opportunity to meet—actors, directors, producers, writers, crew members, students, experienced professionals, and newcomers looking for their first opportunity.

Connections made at SAS can lead to friendships, collaborations, auditions, productions, and new creative opportunities.

We believe Central New York has tremendous artistic talent, and that talent deserves a place to meet, create, perform, and be seen.

You don't need an impressive résumé to walk through our doors.

You don't need an agent.

You don't need professional credits.

You don't even need previous acting experience.

You only need the willingness to participate, learn, and discover what you're capable of doing.

SAS welcomes experienced performers who want to keep their skills sharp while providing an encouraging place for newcomers to take that important first step. We believe performers grow when they are given the freedom to take creative risks without being afraid of failure.

SAS is becoming something larger than a traditional acting workshop. It is a gathering place for the creative community of Syracuse and Central New York—a place where people can exchange ideas, discover talent, develop projects, and help create new opportunities for one another.
 

Our goal is to contribute to a stronger local entertainment industry and to encourage more film, television, theater, and independent productions throughout our region.
